MP: Hamid Nouri's verdict politically motivated, devoid of int'l lawfulness

Tehran, IRNA – A member of Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said that head of that commission, government and judiciary officials, and some parliament members in commission's Tuesday session surveyed latest status of Hamid Nouri judiciary field in Sweden.

Hamid Nouri was arrested on November 9th, 2022, based on an arrest warrant issued by a Stockholm prosecutor in Sweden and put to a lengthy court hearing process that took many months and led to his life imprisonment sentence.

Abbas Golru added, "As of the time when Hamid Nuri was arrested the Iranian organizations and concerned sources have been pursuing the issue. In the field of supporting his family and children, special emphasis has been made. Facilities for his family's access to Hamid Nouri, including their transportations and other supports, included those supports."

The member of Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said that Hamid Nouri's arrest was unjust, and it is the responsibility of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to counter that process and that unjust judiciary process in Sweden."

Nouri's lawyers have rejected the entire accusations brought up against him," he added.

Golru said that the appeals court of Hamid Nouri was held in Stockholm a few days ago, and his lawyers defended him quite competently. The witnesses in that court against Hamid Nouri are entirely MKO terrorist organization members, who also brought up accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Nouri's lawyers in the appeals court also tried to elaborate on MKO's terrorist nature.

The MP said that Sweden prosecutor breached obvious rules of international laws in that court, was quite incapable of launching investigations about the accused crimes, and acted merely based on brought up accusations in the reports presented to him in the appeals court and we ask the Swedish government and judiciary system to end this politically motivated process.
