– World’s largest floating book fair to arrive in Aqaba

The world’s largest floating book fair, the Logos Hope, is scheduled to dock in Aqaba Wednesday. The Logos Hope has more than 5,000 titles on board and offers cultural performances from all around the globe on board of its ship.

Visitors can purchase books at reasonable price and enjoy their performances on Jan. 27 or Feb. 11 for a JD 3 admission.

– Nearly 30,000 Iranian women publish books in 10 months: Minister

A total of 30,000 Iranian women published their works in the current Iranian year (beginning March 20, 2022), Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaeili wrote on his Twitter account, while in 1979 only 11 women were able to publish their works.

He wrote the tweet on Iranian women’s progress after the Islamic Revolution which was focused on the first International Congress for Women of Influence, held in Tehran on January 20, and attended by participants from 30 countries, IRNA wrote.

– Iran ranks fourth among oil suppliers in OPEC

The International Energy Agency (IEA) estimated Iran’s oil production in December 2022 at 2.72 million barrels per day (mbd), announcing that Iran’s rank upgraded to the fourth among top oil suppliers of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

In its latest monthly report, the agency declared that the total oil production of the OPEC in the last month of the past year stood at 29.19mbd, and the total oil production of 13 OPEC member states decreased 40,000 bpd in December 2022 compared to the figure for previous month, IRNA reported.

– Russia, Iran Discuss Implementation of 25-Year Pact

Speaker of the Iranian parliament Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf and chairman of Russia’s State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin here Monday discussed implementation of the 25-year comprehensive cooperation agreement between the two countries.
Qalibaf touched on the third meeting of the Supreme Joint Parliamentary Commission of Iran and Russia held between the two countries, saying Moscow and Tehran have developed a common understanding of cooperation and sensitive issues.

– Iran Sets 500,000-Ton Target for Annual Aluminum Production

Managing Director of Iran Alumni Company (IAC) Turaj Zar’e said on Monday that the country has started studies for the annual production of 500,000 tonnes of alumina from low-grade bauxite with the help of the Chinese
“The initial phase of studies was done with the Chinese, and we are conducting the second phase of the studies,” Zar’e said.
Once the target is achieved, he said, Iran will be self-sufficient in alumina, a compound extracted from bauxite ore that is then smelted to form aluminum.

– MP: Closure of Strait of Hormuz Not on Agenda

The spokesman for the presiding board of the Iranian parliament says no motion regarding the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is on the chamber’s agenda, after a lawmaker floated the idea on Sunday.
The spokesman said a group of lawmakers have proposed reciprocal measures against the draft resolution by the European Parliament that calls for blacklisting of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
Nezameddin Mousavi said the proposals also do not refer to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

– Iran deputy FM visits Burkina Faso

Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri has paid a visit to Burkina Faso and met with the African country’s prime minister, Apollinaire Joachim Kyélem de Tambèla.

In the meeting which took place during Bagheri’s day-long visit to Ouagadougou, the top Iranian diplomat extended to the premier of Burkina Faso an invitation from the Iranian first vice-president.

Bagheri also briefed Burkina Faso’s prime minister on the latest status of mutual relations as well as plans to further boost ties between the two countries, according to the Iranian foreign ministry.

– Iran raised to 4th place among top OPEC producers in December: IEA

The International Energy Agency (IEA) in its latest “Oil Market Report” released last week put Iran’s oil production in December at 2.72 million barrels per day (bpd) indicating that the country has risen to the fourth place among OPEC’s top oil producers.

Based on the report, Iran’s oil output in the last month of 2022 did not change compared to November, however, the figure was 210,000 bpd more than that of October.

OPEC’s total crude production in December stood at 29.19 million bpd, 40,000 bpd less than the previous month.

– Hand-carved bathhouse, a top tourist attraction in northwest Iran

Dash Hammami, a hand-carved bathhouse in the heart of a cave in Givi, northwestern province of Ardabil, is one of the top tourist destinations of the region and a masterpiece of troglodyte architecture.

One of the oldest bathhouses in Iran, it is still used by the locals. It has a rectangular space made of stone all around, and the central space has been dug into the ground in order to keep the air warm and suitable.

A natural stone ceiling covers the whole space, and the bathing space consists of 40 square meters, where water boils from three springs and falls into a pool, and water drops drip from different parts of the roof.
