Amirabdollahian made remarks at the 6th History of Foreign Relations Conference in Tehran, Iran, on Monday.
Referring to the latest developments in the region and the world, Amirabdollahian noted that the prerequisite for achieving stability and tranquility is to reduce conflicts besides returning to respectful negotiations and focusing on the functions of diplomacy.
Calling European leaders to refrain from making emotional statements, he expressed hope that rationality would prevail in the diplomacy and foreign policy of some European states.
Pointing to Borrell’s recent comments, Amirabdollahian underlined that the European Union foreign policy chief’s comments on IRGC show that the EU is not looking for taking costly measures.
Regardless of the interventionist moves of some European and Western states and encouraging rioters in Iran, he reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran considers negotiation and constructive engagement with the European Union as the best option.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Amirabdollahian underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran do not need to have direct talks with the US.
He added that the two sides have the necessary documents, and if there is a serious will on the American side, the agreement [on JCPOA] is reachable.
The Islamic Republic of Iran will not have the slightest hesitation in protecting its sovereignty, interests, and territorial integrity, the top Iranian diplomat underscored.
