During the meeting held in the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Monday, Amirabdollahian emphasized the importance of expanding ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and countries in Latin America, especially with Nicaragua.
The delegation meeting Amirabdollahian included female officials from the ministries of interior, family, education, youth, health and higher education of Nicaragua.
The delegation was led by Nicaraguan Minister of Higher Education and President of the Autonomous University of Nicaragua Ramona Rodríguez.
During the meeting, Rodríguez called for expansion of university, scientific and cultural exchanges between her country and Iran while urging for conclusion of a memorandum of understanding between the Autonomous University of Nicaragua and the University of Tehran.
Other Nicaraguan cabinet ministers also explained their views in the meeting about the potential fields of cooperation between Iran and Nicaragua.
The First International Congress of the Women of Influence was held in Tehran on Friday with female participants from 96 countries in attendance.
The gathering featured notable figures, including first ladies from Burkina Faso, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Serbia as well as former first ladies of Guinea, Niger and Sri Lanka and special envoy of the first lady of Nigeria and senior female officials from Syria and Turkmenistan.
Some 300 foreign guests, including vice presidents and members of parliaments, traveled to Iran to attend the meeting.
The conference’s main objective was to allow the Iranian women to raise their voice against the negative propaganda launched by Western media in recent months about the situation of women in Iran.
