--Iran’s translator Nour-Salehi laid to rest
Iran’s late translator Shohreh Nour-Salehi, known for translating horror books, was laid to rest in the Artists’ Section of Behesht-e Zahra cemetery in southern Tehran on Sunday.
She died at the age of 72 on Saturday. Her first translation was Hanna Johansen’s ‘Dinosaur with an Attitude’ in 2002, which was awarded by Iran’s Children’s Book Council.
-- Iran launches operational phase of Gen. Soleimani’s satellite constellation project
The head of the Iranian Space Agency (ISA) announced the launch of the operational phase of the country’s first satellite system project, named after the country’s late top anti-terror commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.
Hassan Salarieh made the announcement on the agency’s official website on Sunday, as he elaborated on the latest implementation status of Gen. Soleimani’s project, which is part of Iran’s ongoing 10-year space program.
---Serbian corner opens in National Library and Archives of Iran
The Serbian president’s wife, Tamara Vucic, officially opened a Serbian corner in the National Library and Archives of Iran on Saturday. Vucic met with the head of the national body in Tehran, Alireza Mokhtarpour, and presented 32 books about Serbia’s culture and history to the Iranian library.
She was one of the guests at the closing ceremony of the First International Congress for Women of Influence in Tehran.

-- Iran’s Hand-Woven Carpet Output Rises 46%
Iran National Carpet Center (INCC) head Farahnaz Rafe’ has sad that that the country’s production of hand-woven carpets rose significantly in the nine months to late December last year.
Rafe’ said that weavers across Iran had churned out a total of nearly 2.266 million square meters of Persian rugs and carpets in March-December last year, up 46.8% from the same period in 2021.Rafe’ did not elaborate on figures related to carpet export from Iran over the nine months to late December.
-- Fajr Jam Refinery Processes 15 bcm Gas in 9 Months
The CEO of Fajr Jam Gas Refining Company Seyyed Muhammad Mehdi Hashemi has said that about 15 billion cubic meters of gas have been processed in this company in the first 9 months of the year.”
Hashemi said that from the beginning of this calendar year which began on March 21, 14.777 billion cubic meters of gas was produced in the Fajr Jam refinery and sent to the national trucklines, saying: “During this period, 2 million barrels of gas condensate and more than 9,000 tons of liquefied gas (LPG) have been produced.”
-- Iran’s Ice Climber Wins Silver at UIAA World Cup
Iran’s Mohsen Beheshti has bagged a silver medal at the second UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup of the 2023 season.
Myungwook Yang from South Korea snatched the gold medal and the bronze medal went to Mongolian climber Mandakhbayar Chuluunbaatar.
Muhammad Reza Safdarian, another Iranian athlete, came in ninth place in the competition.

--Tehran, Harare set to expand economic ties
Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Reza Fatemi-Amin met with Zimbabwe’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Sekai Nzenza in Tehran on Sunday, during which the two sides stressed the expansion of economic ties.
As reported by the portal of Iran’s Industry Ministry, in this meeting Nzenza called on Iran's food, pharmaceutical, and automotive companies to enter Zimbabwe’s markets. The officials emphasized the development of cooperation in various economic sectors and stressed the need for creating a road map for the expansion of mutual trade and commercial relations.
-- Visit Firuzabad, once politico-cultural capital of Sassanids
- Firuzabad, formerly known as Gur, was once a politico-cultural capital of the Sassanid Empire (224–651). Firuzabad was established by one of the Sassanid kings, Ardeshir Babakan. The city was significant at the time because it was one of the Sassanid Empire’s strategic cities.
An approximate 3579 km2 is the size of Firuzabad, which is situated south of Shiraz. Sassanid art and architecture enthusiasts flock to Firuzabad every year because the city is home to numerous relics from the era. It is a popular Iranian tourist destination.
-- Poland beat Iran at 2023 IHF World Championship
- Poland finished the 2023 IHF Men's World Championship on a high, taking a 26-22 bittersweet win over Iran and finishing in the fourth in Group I of the main round in Krakow, while Iran came sixth in the group. It will be the third time Poland finished outside the top 10, but it will not be their worst-ever result in the competition, which is still the 17th place at France 2017, when Poland also won three matches.
On the other hand, Iran earned a single win in six matches in the competition.
