--Rasht-Astara railroad to be completed in three years: Report

By finalizing an agreement between Tehran and Moscow, the Rasht-Astara railroad will be completed in three years with a total credit of €800 million.

According to a report by IRNA on Friday, as a part of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), the railroad will help boost the trade between Caucasian states, Central Asian countries, and Europeans.

By constructing the 162km Rasht-Astara railroad section, the INSTC will be completed in Iran which connects Astara in northern Iran to the southern city of Bandar Abbas.

-- Iran’s voice actor Molk-Araei dies at 81

Iran’s prominent voice actor Shahrouz Molk-Araei died at the age of 81 in Tehran on Thursday due to pulmonary complication. Several officials, including Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting head Peyman Jebelli, expressed their condolences over the death of the dubber.

Born in Malayer, Iran’s northwestern province of Hamedan, he finished his elementary and secondary schools in Tehran. Short time later, he was introduced to Esmaeil Mehrtash to work as a member of Barbad Theater where he practiced singing and theater performance.

-- Türkiye’s opposition to announce presidential candidate in February

Türkiye’s six-party opposition alliance is set to announce in February their presidential candidate to challenge President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s 20-year rule in elections set for May, an opposition party official said on Friday.

Türkiye is heading towards one of the most consequential votes in the century-long history of the modern republic and Erdogan signalled on Wednesday that the presidential and parliament elections would be on May 14, a month ahead of schedule, Reuters reported.

-- Iran, Armenia Capitals Become Sister Cities

 Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani and his Armenian counterpart Hrachya Sargsyan declared the two cities as sisters.
The sister city signing ceremony between Tehran and Yerevan was held at the Milad Tower Conference Center in Tehran, Iran on Wednesday.
During the ceremony, Zakani said that one of the definitive policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to establish communication, cooperation, and good neighborliness with its neighboring states, especially Armenia.

-- Masjid Soleyman Petrochemical Plant to Boost Output

 The CEO of Masjid Soleyman Petrochemical Plant Mehdi Muhammadi has announced plans to increase the production capacity of this complex by 10 to 15%.
Addressing a press conference Muhammadi said, Masjid Soleyman Petrochemical Plant came online with a 2-year delay in 2021 due to the Covid-19 outbreak, saying the delay resulted in the company repaying the installments to the Chinese financier with a delay.

--Iran’s Gorgan Down Al Riyadi in WASL-West Group B

Shahrdari Gorgan of Iran defeated Lebanese basketball team Al Riyadi 75-62 in Group B of the WASL-West Asia on Wednesday night. Parrish Petty led Gorgan with 26 points at the Azadi Basketball Hall in Tehran, while Wael Arakji scored 16 points for Al Riyadi.
Gorgan moved top of Group B with seven points, one point above Al Riyadi. Shahrdari Gorgan is in Group B along with Al Naft SC of Iraq, Al Karamah SC of Syria, and Al Riyadi Beirut of Lebanon.Zob Ahan, another Iranian representative, are in Group A along with Ittihad Ahli, Beirut Club and Orthodox Amman.

-- Iran, Russia presidents hold phone talks

 Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi received a phone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin during which they discussed a variety of issues.

In the phone call, Ayatollah Raisi reviewed the bilateral and regional relations between Tehran and Moscow and emphasized the need to increase cooperation and coordination between the two countries, according to a readout released by the official website of the Iranian presidency. 

-- Iran, Belarus ink MOU on agricultural co-op

Iran and Belarus have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector, the portal of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (TCCIMA) reported.

Drafted under the framework of the two countries’ Joint Economic Committee, the MOU was signed at the place of the Iranian Agriculture Ministry, on the sidelines of the visit of a Belarusian delegation headed by the country’s Deputy Agriculture Minister Ivan Ivanovich to Tehran.

-- Martian Mountains, Makran coast holds high potential for tourism, minister says

The Miniature Mountains and Makran coastal strip, in Chabahar, southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan province have a high tourism potential, Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Minister has said. A good tourism opportunity should be provided for these areas as these two attractions offer great ecotourism potential, said Ezzatollah Zarghami on Thursday, while visiting the city.

In this area, tourism-related projects will be initiated with the help and support of the ministry, and a number of infrastructure projects will be designed, he added.
