--  Iran Hopes to Reopen Consulates in Mashhad, Jeddah

Both Tehran and Riyadh agree on the continuation of their rapprochement talks, said the Iranian foreign minister.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remark in an address to a joint press conference with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib after their meeting in Beirut on Friday, IRNA reported.
Amir-Abdollahian added Tehran welcomes the return of diplomatic ties with Riyadh to normal and the reopening of the two countries’ embassies.

-- Iran says ready to build power plants in Lebanon

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian voiced Iran’s readiness to construct power plants in Lebanon.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart Abdallah Bou Habib in Beirut on Friday, Amir-Abdollahian said they have explored the ways to promote trade, economic and tourism cooperation in line with the development and progress of the two countries.
The foreign minister noted that Iran, which has premium technological capabilities, is prepared to construct power plants Lebanon needs within the framework of an agreement that will be finalized.

-- Vahshi Bafqi cultural complex inaugurated in Yazd Province after nine-year hiatus

The cultural complex of Vahshi Bafqi in Bafq, Yazd Province, central Iran, was inaugurated after a nine-year hiatus. The cultural complex opened on January 12 on the second day of the trip of President Ebrahim Raeisi to the province.

The inauguration was part of the second round of provincial trip of the president aiming to finish incomplete cultural projects.

-- 10th Iran-Pakistan Border Trade Meeting Held in Quetta

The tenth meeting of the Iran-Pakistan border trade committee has kicked off in Quetta. The meeting aims to boost commercial exchanges, speed up transportation and facilitate customs affairs between the Islamic Republic and Pakistan.
Ways of furthering border cooperation and utilizing the barter mechanism are to be discussed in the meeting. The committee is also to exchange views on combating smuggling and adopting a joint measure to enhance commercial cooperation. The previous round of the meeting was held in Zahedan, Iran.

-- Iran’s Big Success Film Hits Screens in Bulgaria

Iranian movie ‘No Prior Appointment’ has been scheduled to vie at the Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Bulgaria. Directed by Behrouz Shoeibi, the Iranian film will be screened at the Feature Films competition section of the 2023 edition of the event.
Produced by Mahmoud Babaee and Farabi Cinema Foundation, the social drama focuses on introducing autism in the best way to all people in society. ‘No Prior Appointment’ narrates the story of Yasaman, a woman who was six, the same age as her son, when immigrated with her family to Berlin. Now she has to come back to Iran due to her father’s death.

-- Iran Beat Chile 25-24 In 1st Handball World Cup Match

Iran national handball team beat Chile in their first 2023 Handball World Cup match, which was a historical victory. The 28th 2023 Handball World Cup competitions are hosted jointly by Poland and Sweden, from January 11 to 18 and 32 teams are competing in it.
Iran’s first match began at 8:30 pm local time, in Krakuff city of Poland versus Chile, one of the good teams in these competitions. The Iranian handball athletes won the first half of the game 13-11, but in the second half they were three points behind, but in a nice come back, the won the match 25-24.

-- Iran FM to visit Turkey for meeting on Syria

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has announced that his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian will pay a visit to Turkey to attend a ministerial meeting about Syria. The Turkish foreign minister said he would meet Amir Abdollahian next Tuesday and “the Iranian President can also visit Turkey in the upcoming days,” according to Al-Monitor. 

Iran has stepped up diplomatic efforts regarding Syria. On Wednesday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed Syria, among other things, over the phone. 

-- “Questioning” drama “The Guard” named best at Ammar Popular Film Festival

“The Guard”, a telefilm whose producers claim is questioning about people’s social and political rights, has been picked as best at the 13th Ammar Popular Film Festival. Directed by Hamid Bayat, the story of the film revolves around the problems coming after a security guard at a funfair decides to declare his candidacy for membership in the city council.

The closing ceremony of the festival, which was launched in 2010 to honor revolutionary films, was held at Tehran’s Felestin Cinema on Thursday.

-- Budget bill allocates $85m for natural resources

The national budget bill for the next Iranian calendar year 1402, which starts on March 21, has allocated 35 trillion rials (about $85 million) for conserving and protecting natural resources.

The largest amount of the budget is related to watershed management and aquifer management with a budget of 13 trillion rials ($34 million), ISNA quoted Mostafa Jalili, an official with Natural Resources and Watershed Management Organization, as saying. Important issues such as employment, production and people's livelihood, water, agriculture and environment, watershed management, and aquifer management have been taken into consideration in the 1402 budget bill, he explained.
