Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said Wednesday that Iran plans to dispatch forces to the Panama Canal as part of efforts to expand its naval presence on the high seas.
Addressing a conference on maritime civilization in Tehran, Irani said the Iranian naval forces have been deployed to all of the strategic straits across the world so far, except two.
