Rouhollah Nourian said on Tuesday that Ilam refinery, located in western Iran, used to rely on foreign companies for the products that are currently manufactured inside Iran.
Nourian said that the refinery is currently using domestically manufactured molecular sieves and catalysts which it once imported from overseas.
He said using home-made products is in line with the Iranian government’s policy to support knowledge-based companies in the country and to help boost activity in the Iranian market.
The official added in his remarks that Ilam refinery has taken good steps to reduce its dependence on foreign suppliers by identifying qualified local companies that can manufacture same products and equipment items.
Ilam gas refinery is the only supplier of natural gas in western Iran which also supplies gas feedstock to Ilam Petrochemical Company, one of Iran’s largest plants.
