Esmaili wrote on his account on domestic social media platform Rubika on Saturday that Iran’s cultural interactions with the Muslim and African countries have experienced a major boom since a popular administration led by President Raisi came to office in the country in August 2021.
The minister made the announcement while referring to his recent meetings in Mauritanian capital Nouakchott with Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani and culture ministers from several Muslim countries.
Esmaili arrived in Nouakchott on Thursday to take part in an official ceremony to introduce Nouakchott as the cultural capital of the Islamic World in 2023.
He said the warm welcome shown by Ghazouani and culture ministers participating in the event indicated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has a major opportunity to expand its public diplomacy by relying on its cultural and civilizational past.
He said that Raisi’s administration attaches great importance to strengthening cultural ties with the Muslim and African states.
