Spokesman for Iran’s Judiciary Masoud Setayeshi says judicial authorities have not yet issued a verdict in the case of two French defendants on trial for allegedly instigating unrest in the Islamic Republic. Setayeshi said the two have been indicted over alleged espionage and conspiracy against national security.
One of the French nationals confessed to officials that they were in Iran to incite a revolution that would bring down the Islamic Republic of Iran.
-- Iran Handball Team to Compete at 4 Nations Cup
Iran national handball team will participate at the 4 Nations Cup in Krakow, Poland. Team Melli will compete in the tournament as part of preparation for the 2023 IHF Men’s World Championship, which will be held in Poland and Sweden from January 11 to 29.
Iran will meet Poland on January 4 and play Belgium and Morocco in the following days.

Iranian short film “Freeloader” by Elham Mohammadzadeh is scheduled to compete at the 18th edition of the IAWRT Asian Women’s Film Festival 2023.
Directed and produced by Iranian filmmaker Elham Mohammadzadeh, “Freeloader” narrates the story of a fake divorce. The synopsis of the short film reads, “Leila and Reza get into trouble to get rid of financial problems and face a new challenge.”

-- Iran commemorates martyrdom anniversary of Gen. Soleimani
From Baghdad to Kerman, the birthplace of General Soleimani, tens of thousands of people participated in ceremonies for the commemoration of the third anniversary of the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the IRGC Quds Force. Thousands of people from across the country flocked to General Soleimani’s tombstone in Kerman on Tuesday to pay tribute to the general and commemorate the third anniversary of his assassination by the U.S. in the early days of 2020.
Tasnim reported from Kerman that an “unprecedented” number of Iranian and non-Iranian pilgrims headed to the gravestone of General Soleimani, evoking memories from his historic funeral three years ago. Iran’s state-run television said more than 100,000 pilgrims visited the tome of General Soleimani.
-- Afghanistan appoints new embassy caretaker in Tehran
Afghanistan has appointed a new caretaker for its embassy in Tehran after the tenure of the current caretaker came to an end, Fars News reported. The newly-appointed caretaker is one of the embassy staff, according to Fars News.
The appointment will soon be announced by the Afghan government. Experts believe that the simultaneous change of the senior diplomats of the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul and the embassy of Afghanistan in Tehran shows the determination of the governments to develop the relations between the two countries, Fars News said.
