Lula da Silva says Brazil will strongly defend Palestinians’ rights

Tehran, IRNA – New Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said that his country will strongly support the Palestinians and will strive to restore the freedom and independence of Palestine as an independent and sovereign country within the borders of 1967.

According to Palestinian media, Da Silva made the remarks in a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister of the Palestinian National Authority Riyad al-Maliki.

He reiterated Brazil’s commitment to supporting the cause of the Palestinian nation, saying that Brasilia will support Palestine’s efforts in all international arenas.

Da Silva, a leftist politician, defeated Jair Bolsonaro​​ in the presidential elections.

He served as Brazil’s president from 2002 to 2010, when the bilateral relations between Brasilia and Tehran witnessed a significant boom.
