3 islands in Persian Gulf belong to Iran forever: MP

Tehran, IRNA – The three islands of the Greater Tunb, the Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa in the Persian Gulf have been, are, and will be for Iran; and the Islamic Republic will stand firmly against those who want to challenge the fact, an Iranian lawmaker said.

Ali-Reza Salimi, a member of the Presiding Board of the Iranian Parliament, said on Sunday meeting of the Islamic Consultative Assembly that the Chinese authorities especially the president are warned not to be deceived by certain littoral states of the Persian Gulf region.

Salimi criticized a joint statement by China and Saudi Arabia during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s presence in Riyadh against the Islamic Republic, saying that President Xi showed during the trip that he is more naïve than he was expected.

The three islands have been, are and will be Iranian and everybody, who wants to question the issue, will face firm response by the Islamic Republic of Iran, he warned.

The Chinese government should abide by its commitments under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), he said, adding that the second article of the SCO treaty refers to the territorial integrity of Iran.

Mojtaba Zonnuri, another Iranian legislator, cautioned China to avoid getting in line with the plot hatched by the Zionist-Arab axis against Iran and try to be back on track.

Salman Es’haghi, a parliamentarian, warned Chinese investors to read what happened to Jamal Ahmad Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist, dissident, author and columnist, who was killed in cold blood by Saudi authorities in Turkiye.

Mohammad-Reza Ahmadi, representative of Rasht city in parliament, urged Chinese officials to pay heed to what they comment on Iran’s territorial integrity.

Mohammad Sabzi, another legislator, advised Arab littoral states of the Persian Gulf to be cautioned about their way of speaking with the Islamic Republic, because Tehran does not retreat from its rights concerning territorial integrity.
