Iran won't cooperate with UNHRC's politicized mission: Spox

Tehran, IRNA – The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced here on Monday that the country will not cooperate with the United Nations Human Right Council while terming the Council as politically-motivated.

Measures to issue anti-Iran resolution will not help [solve questions about] the human rights, Nasser Kanaani told reporters at his weekly press briefing in Tehran this morning.

Islamic Republic of Iran fulfills its responsibility voluntarily, the spokesman underlined.

Kanaani went on to say that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not cooperate with such a political committee which works under the name of “fact-finding mission.”

Iran within the framework of it national responsibilities has formed a national committee; and it means that the country is committed to its national and natural accountability, he stressed.

So, Iran rejects use of the human rights as a tool for political purposes, according to the spokesman.

The UN reports show that Germany has played an effective role in the results of the reports, the spokesman noted.

Following Germany's initiative to hold a special meeting of the Human Rights Council to review recent events in Iran and repeat baseless and interventionist remarks, German Ambassador to Iran Hans-Udo Muzel was summoned by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Monday.

Touching upon the recent unrest in the country and the US and the Western states’ role in the turmoil, the spokesman said some foreign nationals attempted acts of vandalism as there is adequate proof of it.

About fifty times, the security of the Iranian diplomatic missions was violated abroad; meanwhile, those countries which were accountable for bringing about security to diplomatic missions did nothing against the political aggression-seekers, Kanaani noted.

The basis of networks turned into war rooms is in the countries which are so-called advocates of the human rights, he underlined.

About the latest developments in the Vienna talks, the spokesman said Europe cannot play an independent role as it is under the shadow of the US decisions.

Elsewhere, Kanaani referred to the upcoming visit of the Iraqi prime minister to Iran that is planned to take place on Tuesday (November 29) at the official invitation of the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Asked about Iraq’s decision to set up security forces on its Kurdistan region which has a joint border crossing with Iran, the spokesman said Islamic Republic believes that Kurdistan region is part of Iraqi soil, so the Iraqi government is responsible for providing security for the joint borders there.

Recently, the Ground Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that it carried out several mass missile and drone operations against the terrorist separatist groups in the Iraqi Kurdistan region in northern Iraq.

As the spokesman underlined, the Islamic Republic will be ready to extend technical help to Iraq if it requests.

About attack on a Zionist oil tanker, the spokesman said the aim behind such remarks is to make baseless accusation against Iran; Iran is brave enough to shoulder responsibility for what it does.

At the end of his remarks, the spokesman censured the US move toward Iran’s flag.

On its social media, the US soccer federation did change Iran’s flag to show support for protesters in Iran, according to American news networks.

Calling such a move as illegal and unethical, the spokesman said the American side accepted its mistake and corrected it.
