--Iran plans to boost exports to China: Official

More Iranian companies have participated in the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai to promote their products and brands through the platform, as people-to-people exchanges between China and Iran have been connected by the Silk Road since ancient times, an Iranian diplomat announced.
Hamid Adeli, a commercial counselor from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Beijing, said that it is his first time to attend the CIIE intensively, but some Iranian companies participated for the fourth time.

-- Iran’s eight-month exports to India up 40%

The value of Iran’s exports to India increased by 40 percent in the first eight months of 2022, compared to the corresponding figure for 2021, according to the data released by the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The value of trade between Iran and India stood at $1.791 billion during January-August 2022, rising 52 percent from $1.176 billion in the same period in 2021.

-- POGC to Drill 35 New Wells in South Pars

Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) is planning to spud 35 new wells in the supergiant South Pars gas field to enhance and maintain gas production in the massive joint field.
According to POGC, the deputy head of POGC’s Reservoir Operations Engineering Unit outlined the company’s recent activities said on the last day of the first national conference on enhancing the productivity of oil and gas wells held at the specialized conference center of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), “Pars Oil and Gas Company focuses on maintaining production in the South Pars gas field while developing other gas fields such as Kish, North Pars, Bilal, Golshan and Ferdowsi, Farzad A and B and also the oil layers of South Pars.”

-- IME Weekly Trade Exceeds $685mn

The Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) on Saturday reported that over 2,032,025 tonnes of commodities with a total value of $685 million were traded on its domestic and exporting halls in the last week, logging growths of 18% and 43% in terms of volume and value respectively.
The IME’s report added on its metals and minerals trading floor trade, over 2,432,000 tonnes of commodities including, 1,149,583 tonnes of cement, 106,000 tonnes of iron ore, 623,450 tonnes of steel, 74,000 tonnes of sponge iron, 19,500 tonnes of zinc, 8,325 tonnes of aluminum, 9,000 tonnes of copper, 200 tonnes of molybdenum concentrate and 65 kg of gold bars with total value of $443 million were traded in the last week.

-- Iran Win Eighth Men’s Title at Sitting Volleyball World Championships

Iran’s men’s team has claimed the title of the 2022 Sitting Volleyball World Championships in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina Friday night.

Team Melli defeated host Bosnia and Herzegovina in straight sets (26-24, 32-30, 25-12).

Defending champion Iran faced the home nation in the men’s final, but stopped the crowd at Hotel Hills Arena from having much to cheer.

-- “Mom”, “Absence”, “Lipar” win awards at Asian Film Festival Barcelona

The Iranian movies “Mom”, “Absence” and “Lipar” have garnered awards at the 10th edition of the Asian Film Festival Barcelona in Spain.

“Mom”, also known as “Maman”, brought the award for best director for Arash Anisi in the official section during the closing ceremony of the festival last week.

-- Oman calls on Iran to set up production lines in that country

During a meeting between Reza Fatemi-Amin, Iran’s industry, mining and trade minister, and Saleh bin Said Masan, Oman’s deputy minister of commerce, industry and investment, in Tehran, the Omani side called on Iran to set up factories and production lines in his country.

The meeting was also participated by Head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) Alireza Peyman-Pak, the TPO portal reported on Saturday.

-- Istakhr: a royal residence of Sassanid kings

The ancient city of Istakhr, which embraces many magnificent palaces, fortifications, and temples, was once a royal residence of the Sassanid kings of Persia and is located near Persepolis, southern Iran.

The political history of Istakhr stretches back to 224 CE when a Persian nobleman Ardashir dethroned Artabanus IV, king of the Parthian Empire, who was recognized as a lawful ruler in Persia.
