Russia, other countries express sympathy with Iran over Shiraz attack

Tehran, IRNA – Russia and several more countries expressed their condolences to Iran over the Wednesday terror attack that killed 15 people, including two children, at the Shah Cheragh holy shrine in the city of Shiraz.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a message of condolence to his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi.

According to Russia’s Sputnik news agency, Putin announced his country’s readiness to increase cooperation with Iran on fighting terrorism.

Türkiye condemned the carnage as well. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu posted a tweet, slamming the terror attack at the Shia shrine.

Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto took the same stance, strongly condemning the attack and terrorism in any form.

He expressed “deep” regret over the attack, saying his “thoughts go with the families of the victims".

A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry in Armenia reacted on Twitter too, posting a message to extend condolences to the people and government of Iran over the attack that took the lives of innocent people.

The United Nations and a number of other countries, including Syria and Yemen, have also denounced the Wednesday shooting attack that was claimed by the Daesh terror group.
