Bijan Nobaveh-Vatan told IRNA on Tuesday that the media orientation in the world is a one-way road led by Western states whose elements are active in the third world, especially in Islamic countries, in a bid to lead news stories in line with their goals.
The Islamic Republic possesses an independent media orientation, which is being followed by many countries, he said, adding that people in some Western countries receive reliable reports from Iranian news agencies.
Therefore, there is a positive view of the performance of Iranians in this respect, the legislator noted.
The OANA meeting in Tehran indicates that the attention to the Iranian news agencies is being enhanced, because other countries have found out that many reports coming from the West are unilaterally organized to protect its interests, he added.
The OANA general assembly has shown that the organization is capable of enhancing a credible media orientation for the benefit of developing countries, the Iranian MP said.
It seems that the future of communications among member states of the OANA can organize a clean media orientation in the world, he underlined.
IRNA hosts the 18th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), which kicked off in the capital Tehran on October 24.
In the two-day assembly, around 60 senior directors, managers, and editors from 35 OANA member states discussed various topics, including the development and strengthening of media cooperation.
IRNA along with Fars and Mehr news agencies are the three media agencies in Iran representing the country in OANA.
At the end of the 18th General Assembly of OANA, a communiqué was issued by the participants on Tuesday.
