Deputy Police Chief Hossein Hassanpour said that the arrestees were involved in assaulting citizens and damaging public property.
A number of them have already been referred to the judiciary, the official said, adding that others who had no criminal record have been released following investigations.
Hassanpour said that a team has also been identified and dismantled that had planned acts of sabotage in Gilan.
A number of cold weapons and Molotov cocktails were confiscated from them as well, the police official added.
Protests broke out in Iran a month ago following the death of 22-year-old woman Mahsa Amini in police custody in Tehran.
But, the demonstrations soon turned into riots during which ambulances were set ablaze and damage was caused to public property.
Police have released footage of Amini at a Tehran station where she fainted and collapsed.
A forensic report and an inquiry by the Iranian parliament have concluded that the young woman, who was from the city of Saqez, had underlying condition and did not die due to blows to her body.
