“Today it is evident that the political map of the world is changing on a daily basis. The issue of unipolarity and having one or two powers bullying other countries and nations has lost its legitimacy and nations have woken up. The unipolar system has been discarded and it will gradually become obsolete. It is often heard these days that top ranking politicians say they do not agree with a unipolar system," the Supreme Leader continued.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the era of the dominance of the bipolar system over the world came to an end, and the United States, under the title of a superior power, introduced itself as the leader of the new world order.
One of the main goals of the United States during the reign of the unipolar system was to secure the interests of Israel by weakening Muslim countries. Applying all-round pressure on Palestine, attacking Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, interfering in the internal affairs of Syria, creating and equipping terrorist groups such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda, encouraging the Arab coalition to invade Yemen and imposing economic sanctions against Iran were carried out in this regard.
During this period, in order to achieve its goals, the White House faced an obstacle called the Islamic Revolution of Iran, which did not reflect the unipolar world, and by strengthening the axis of resistance against America and Israel, it created a new duality called "Islam and arrogance".
This phenomenon, which was welcomed by some Muslim nations and governments, challenged America's desired unipolar order and raised revolutionary Islam as a serious threat to the interests of the United State of America.
One of the results of the resistance against the unipolar system was the emergence of movements based on Islamic awakening in Muslim countries against US-affiliated dictatorships, which brought the people of countries such as Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen and Bahrain to the stage.
Hosni Mubarak, the dictator of Egypt, was humiliated and Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, the leader of Tunisia, were ousted, and in Lebanon, a religious, revolutionary group called Hezbollah was able to ground the Zionist army.
Israel's military defeats against the Palestinian Mujahideen, Lebanon's Hezbollah, and the Syrian army as well as America's political defeats in moving the embassies of countries to Jerusalem, the failure of compromise negotiations, and the failure of the great deal of the century are among the effects of the unipolar system's inability to manage the world.
The continuous failures of America in advancing its goals in West Asia and the encirclement of Israel among the countries and groups of the axis of resistance made many Muslim countries gradually come to the conclusion that global security is endangered in a unipolar world led by the United States. And the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of independent countries are threatened, and they must seek an order based on collective and multilateral cooperation.
The outbreak of war in Ukraine and the involvement of major powers in this crisis and the inability of America and NATO to defeat Russia was another sign of the failure of the unipolar system. The United States and NATO, which failed to stop Russia's advance in Ukraine, tried to suspend Russia's membership in the Human Rights Council, but the state of the votes showed that the United States could not hope for global support.
Among the 193 member countries of the United Nations, only 93 countries agreed to vote against Russia, and 100 other countries showed their lack of cooperation with the West in confronting Russia with negative votes, abstentions and absenteeism. The total strength of these 100 countries, in terms of population and economic and military power, was greater than the US and NATO camp, and four countries with official nuclear weapons power (Russia, China, India, Pakistan), members of BRICS and the Shanghai pact, and the majority of important members.
OPEC and OPEC Plus and OPEC Gas, an important part of the G20 and most of the non-aligned members and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the African Union and the South American Union did not vote against Russia. Today, NATO's war with Russia is reminiscent of the wars between Iran and Rome in the early days of Islam, which created a suitable environment for the growth of Islam and the progress of Muslims at that time.
Current events show that the 15th century Hijri calendar is the century of the failure of unilateralism and the promise of an order based on multilateralism in international relations. In this century, strengthening the approach of multilateralism and joint actions of independent countries against the overbearing powers, especially America, has weakened the main enemy of the Islamic world and will create new opportunities for Muslims to move towards the new Islamic civilization.
In this process, the Islamic world can witness a new chapter of its life and with more than one and a half billion population, a rich civilizational history, possessing natural wealth, human resources and military power, it is able to play an important role in managing the world. The main condition of playing this role is unity, lack of division, internal cohesion, and non-dependence on America and the domineering powers.
In this case, the Islamic world can play a role in saving the world from insecurity, war, and domination by combining its extensive facilities and capacities. In a system based on multilateralism, influential Muslim countries such as Iran, Turkey, Iraq, Egypt and Saudi Arabia should gradually approach each other and adopt a common approach to ensure regional security and ensure the interests of the Islamic world.
This goal is possible by strengthening diplomacy and continuing dialogue to reduce differences and increase comprehensive cooperation between Islamic countries. In this case, it is possible to think about the promotion of the "political productivity of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation" in global management and move towards effective economic and cultural cooperation.
We will end the note with a quote from Ayatollah Khamenei's speech on Jan 30, 2012 at the meeting of the participants in the World Summit of Youth and Islamic Awakening. Hoping that the current century will be associated with the victories of the Islamic world and the movement of Muslims towards unity and cohesion.
"You dear youth should know that the history of the world and the history of humanity is at a great momentous juncture today. A new era is starting throughout the world. The great and clear sign of it is the attention to Allah the Exalted, the cries for assistance from the inexhaustible source of divine power and reliance on divine revelations. Humanity has passed through the days of materialistic ideologies and schools and thought. Today neither Marxism, nor western liberal democracy, nor secular nationalism has any appeal. You see what is going on in the cradle of western liberal democracy - in America, in Europe. They admit failure. Today among members of the Islamic nations, the greatest appeal belongs to Islam, the Holy Quran, and the school of thought that is based on divine revelation. Allah the Exalted has promised that the divine and Islamic school of thought and the school of thought that is based on divine revelation can help humanity achieve happiness. This is a very sacred, very important and very significant phenomenon."
