Speaking in his weekly press conference on Monday, Nasser Kanaani said that the US and Europeans linked the negotiation process to the recent incidents in Iran, noting that the internal issues are related to the Iranian government and nation and Tehran would not let any country interfere with Iran’s internal affairs.
However, Kanaani said that Iran was still ready to continue the negotiations to remove sanctions against Iran with the previous approach.
The spokesman announced Iran’s readiness for bilateral interaction with all parties involved in the negotiations to reach an outcome, noting that Tehran will stand against and respond to new sanctions and pressures imposed by the US and Western governments to blackmail Iran and force it to give more concessions.
Those governments who advise Iran against violence against protests let the protesters in their own countries attack Iran’s embassies which have diplomatic immunity, Kanaani said.
He said that those countries let an attacker enter Iran’s embassy and attack the Iranian female ambassador and other embassy staff.
On the attacks by the IRGC on locations in Iraqi Kurdistan, Kanaani said that they were done based on previous official, transparent measures, noting that the attacks targeted the headquarters of armed secessionist groups.
He said that Iran and Iraq had negotiations on this issue and Tehran has told the Iraqi side that it expects Baghdad to exercise sovereignty over all Iraqi soil and not let some of its soil be used to violate Iran’s borders.
The spokesman highlighted Iran’s assistance to Afghanistan on various occasions, including in establishing security, meeting people’s economic and basic demands, and providing them with medical assistance in such incidents as the recent terrorist attack.
Kanaani underscored that Iran does not side with either of the involved parties in the Ukraine war and had its relationship with both sides based on Iran’s interests.
He commented on yesterday's attack on Iran’s embassy in London, noting that such attacks were precedented in the UK and that Iran has urged the UK government to protect Iranian missions in accordance with their international obligations.
He also mentioned the detainment of some foreign nationals during the recent unrest in Iran, saying that those who were proved to be innocent had been released and the concerned embassies had been told about those who were still in detainment.
The diplomat noted that Iran was safe for all foreign citizens who travel to the country for tourism or commercial purposes, urging them to observe Iran’s laws.
