Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf on Sunday on the occasion of the Islamic Unity Week congratulated Islamic countries around the world on the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and said that Unity Week is a symbol of Shia-Sunni unity and solidarity in serving Iranians and the Islamic Revolution.
We witnessed this unity in the Holy Defense and other incidents in Iran, when the country needed presence and sacrifice, the Sunnis and the Shias were present in all aspects and made Iran stronger than before, he added.
Qalibaf emphasized that the key to Iran's victory in all fields is Shia-Sunni unity.
The Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was born on the 17th of the lunar month Rabi' al-Awwal according to Shia tradition. The Sunni tradition, on the other hand, believes his birth to be on Rabi’ al-Awwal 12th.
The Muslim World celebrates the day between the two dates as Islamic Unity Week, as established by the late Imam Khomeini.
