Reza Sadr al-Hosseini, an expert in West Asia affairs, told IRNA on Wednesday that the Iranian nuclear negotiating team has participated in different sessions to suggest Tehran’s proposals and answer the other sides’ questions.
Four main issues, including guarantees, sanctions, safeguards agreement and nuclear industry, were discussed in verbal or written forms with representatives of the P4+1 group (Britain, France, China, Russia plus Germany), but the Islamic Republic has not submitted any text unrelated to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and has not urged for any demand unrelated to the nuclear deal so far.
The negotiating teams and the US could not find any problem in draft texts written by the incumbent administration in Tehran; so, they changed their words and initiated media and psychological warfare, because they have not had any rational stance and they are keeping on this trend yet, the analyst noted.
The United States’ administration is engaged in a paradox, because they need to return to the JCPOA due to the fact that the Biden administration did not have any remarkable achievement in foreign policy and it could not remove the Europeans and Americans’ concerns about the nuclear accord, the pundit added.
The other point is that the administration of the President Joe Biden has not been able to control lobbies; so, it is facing incapability to unite domestic political sphere, the political expert said, noting that Biden claimed that he would adopt stances different from his predecessor Donald Trump’s ones, but he could do nothing tangible especially in resolving the issues related to the revival of the nuclear deal.
Thus, the US is the one who should utter the final word to pave the way for returning to the JCPOA, which would be in favor of nations and international security, while respecting Iran’s rights to utilize nuclear technology, he mentioned.
Given the fact that the US authorities could not yet make a decision on this matter, they resort to hue and cry policy via their mainstream media in a bid to influence the Iranians’ mindset and put pressure on Iran’s economy, he said.
Sadr al-Hosseini also went on to say that the Islamic Republic paid a heed to Europe’s proposition and submitted its suggestions.
