Tehran, IRNA - Vice President for Parliamentary Affairs Mohammad Hosseini left Tehran for Bogotá to attend the inauguration ceremony of new Colombian President Gustavo Petro.

Upon his arrival in Colombia, Hosseini was welcomed by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Colombia and Iranian Charge d’affaires in Latin America.

Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian congratulated Gustavo Petro, the president-elect of Colombia, on his victory and wished progress and prosperity for the Colombian people and success for Petro.

A leftist politician, Petro was elected as president of Colombia in a presidential election.
