Khaji exchanged views with UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg about the latest developments in the war-torn country on Wednesday, a day after the UN official announced the extension of the truce for another two months.
The Iranian diplomat said that his country will continue efforts for a peaceful resolution of the Yemen conflict.
He expressed hope that the two-month truce will lead to a comprehensive agreement over lasting peace, as well as the lifting of the Saudi-led blockade, among other things.
Yemen has been ravaged by war waged by a Saudi-led coalition since March 2015.
The coalition has also imposed a blockade on Yemen, making it difficult for the country to import basic supplies such as food and medicine.
The United Nations has described Yemen as the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, where more than 250,000 people have been killed through direct or indirect causes during the years-long war.
