Islamic Republic of Iran has always had approach to respect Syria’s territorial integrity, Mokhber said in a meeting held in Tehran with the visiting Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad.
Iran believes that the fight against terrorists should not hurt Syria’s territorial integrity, he noted.
Regarding Tehran-Damascus relations, the first vice president called for the development of all-out cooperation.
He also stressed the necessity of removing obstacles to bilateral economic ties as Iran is determined to develop its cooperation with Syria in all areas.
Tehran-Damascus economic relations have not been fostered in accordance with two sides’ political ties, so expanding banking cooperation and facilitating financial exchange is necessary, Mokhber underlined.
The Syrian foreign minister, for his part, appreciated the Islamic Republic for its support for Syria in the fight against terrorism.
If there were not support from the Islamic Republic of Iran, the current situation of Syria and the region would completely be different, Mekdad noted.
He went on to say that his country will never forget Iran’s help.
Speaking about the US sanctions imposed against Iran and Syria, Mekdad described those bans as economic terrorism.
Those who take such unilateral and unfair measures against nations are war criminals as their moves are against humanity, he pointed out.
With Iran’s supports, Syria will conquer the US occupation, he concluded.
On July 20, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian hosted Mekdad in Tehran.
