Iran after development of regional interactions: Senior MP

Tehran, IRNA – The vice-speaker of Iran’s Majlis (the Iranian Parliament) has said that the country is willing to enhance regional interactions and that Qatar can play a special role in holding the related dialogue.

Abdolreza Mesri made the remarks on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Parliamentary Network conference held in Baku, Azerbaijan.

In Baku, Mesri held meetings with Speaker of Algeria’s National Assembly Ibrahim Boughali, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council of Qatar Hamda bint Hassan al-Sulaiti and Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed.

At his talks with Boughali, Mesri said that Iran and Algeria enjoy friendly and brotherly ties based on a long-term friendship and cordial cooperation.

Mesri appreciated Algeria for its logical and principled policies to take a good stance on international issues.

For his part, the Algerian speaker said his country attaches great importance to its cordial brotherly relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Further, he expressed Algeria’s readiness for fostering parliamentary ties with Iran.

Elsewhere in his meeting with al-Sulaiti, the Iranian official referred to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to deepen ties with Qatar and noted that friendship between the two countries is a valuable asset for upgrading all-out relations.

For her part, the Qatari official said that continuation of relations with Iran in all areas is important for her country.

Also, in his meeting with Abdullah Ahmed, the Iranian official stressed that the Islamic Republic always supports peace and tranquility in the region.

Iran has adopted a policy on expansion of ties with the neighboring states, Mesri underlined.

Abdullah Ahmed, too, highlighted the Islamic Republic of Iran’s important role in the fight against the Takfiri groups and terrorists and appreciated Tehran for its positive stance on the region.

The NAM Parliamentary Network conference was held in Azerbaijan from June 30 to July 1. On the second day of the event, Mesri delivered a speech.
