Interior min: Iran alone in anti-narcotics campaign

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi said that Iran is alone in anti-narcotics campaign, arguing that the Islamic Republic of Iran is quite serious in this campaign that needs to be a collective campaign.

Ahmad Vahidi who was speaking on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, said that nomination of such as day shows that this is a global problem and every country should seriously and actively participate in it, but the leading factors to the emergence of this gravest problem for the mankind needs to be surveyed.

He said that it has now been over 100 years that mankind is entangled with the narcotics problem and this is a very sad story involving a mean culture, whose objective is global expansion of narcotics drugs addiction.

The interior minister said that the first culprit of this crime is the western countries today, while the countries that have suffered the gravest losses are other countries.

Vahidi said that there are also countries that have sat in a corner at their safe margins, and their campaign against the narcotic drugs trafficking is merely words of mouth, but they do not have any serious presence of activity in this campaign.

He said that Afghanistan is one of the main centers for opium and hash cultivation, and its destroyed economy is a victim of the western countries’ expansionist interferences, while Afghanistan can plant many other useful products.

Vahidi said that just as the western countries destroyed that country, they are obliged to provide Afghanistan with the required financial assets to preplace puppy cultivation with other products, but they not only do not do that, but have also blocked that nation’s monetary assets.
