President Raisi condoles with Afghanistan over deadly earthquake

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi expressed condolences in a message on Friday over the death of hundreds of Afghanistan people in the deadly earthquake.

President Raisi said in the message that he instructed the Iranian Red Crescent Society to provide as much assistance as possible for the people stricken by tremor.

The Iranian nation and government stand with Afghan people and will act as a true neighbor regarding the disaster, the President added.

He also expressed regret that years of occupation by the United States has impeded creating civil infrastructure in Afghanistan which is now manifested in the difficulty of providing the stricken areas with required assistance.

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake hit Khost city in southeastern Afghanistan, leaving over 2,500 deaths and many more injuries.
