Iran, Lebanon's Hezbollah stress coop in empowering women

Tehran, IRNA – The Islamic Republic of Iran and Lebanon's resistance movement Hezbollah have underlined the need for sharing Iranians' experiences in empowering women with the Lebanese people.

At Monday's meeting, Iran's Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Ensiyeh Khazali and Lebanese Hezbollah's women coordinator Afaf al-Hakim held talks on different fields of women's issues.

Al-Hakim pointed to the fact that Lebanese women take the Iranian women as role models, emphasizing on the necessity of sharing successful experiences of the Islamic Republic of Iran with Lebanon and other Islamic countries.

The Lebanese official went on to say that the Islamic Republic's brilliant experiences in empowering women in economic and scientific arenas are of great importance.

Khazali, for her part, noted that resolving problems of families, women, and their cultural affairs in the Islamic world requires serious determination and cooperation of Muslim nations.

As to the progress of women in Iran and their participation in various scientific, cultural, sports, and executive sectors, she argued that the vice presidency for Women and Family Affairs has made all-out efforts to remove obstacles and pave the way for resolving problems in the way of empowering Iranian women.

Both sides also underscored that the two countries enjoy cultural commonalities, expressing hope that cooperation and coordination among women of Iran and Lebanon will increase in social and cultural areas.

Iran's Vice President for Women and Family Affairs hailed efforts made by Afaf al-Hakim to support the resistance movement.
