On Saturday, Iran’s top diplomat Hossein Amirabdollahian held a phone conversation with Qatari foreign minister and deputy prime minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
The two officials also discussed the latest regional and international developments as well as the ongoing talks in Vienna to revive the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, known as the Comprehensive Plan of Action, or the JCPOA.
Amirabdollahian criticized the US for bringing up new issues in the Vienna talks and stressed that Iran is seriously working in order for a good, strong and sustainable agreement to be reached on the revival of the JCPOA.
The Qatari foreign minister, for his part, said it is important that Iran and other parties to the Vienna negotiations are making efforts to reach an agreement.
He also stressed the importance of relations between Iran and Qatar as well as the positive outcomes of President Raisi’s visit to Doha.
Raisi arrived in the Qatari capital on February 21 for a two-day visit. There, he attended the 6th summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum. The Iranian president also held high-level talks with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. During the trip, Iran and Qatar signed several agreements aimed at boosting their relations.
The administration of President Raisi says developing ties with neighboring countries is a priority of its foreign policy. 1424
