Culture minister: Iran to expand cultural cooperation with regional countries

Beirut, IRNA – Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili in his visit to Lebanon in separate meetings with the Lebanese president, parliament speaker, and prime minister on Monday said that the Iranian government has broad programs for expansion of cultural regional interactions.

Esmaili said in his meetings with President Michel Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, and Prime Minister Najib Azmi Miqati on Monday that Iran and Lebanon have a long record of cultural ties and the new popular Iranian government has broad programs for expansion of cultural regional interactions.

“Lebanon, due to the long record of its friendship with Iran and its cultural and civilizational relation with our country, is the first destination of our cultural diplomacy in this round of the Islamic Republic of Iran Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry,” he addedEsmaili said that the Iranian and Lebanese personalities have highly influenced these two brother and friendly nations, contributing to cultural commonalties.

Esmaili also referred to the holding of the Iran Culture Week in Lebanon, adding: This important cultural and artistic event can open a new chapter in our bilateral cultural ties.

The Iranian culture minister further emphasized that the efforts made by the Lebanese culture minister for holding the Iran Culture Week in Lebanon are praiseworthy.

"A similar event will be held in Iran in the presence of Lebanese artists," he added.

Esmaili also conveyed the warm regards of President Ebrahim Raisi to his Lebanese counterpart and the other Lebanese high ranking officials.
