Iran speaker: Taboo on ties with Zionist regime should not be broken

Tehran, IRNA – Majlis (Parliament) Speaker of Iran Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has stressed that taboo on relations with the Zionist regime of Israel should not be violated as the root of regional problems is the measures and interference of the US and the regime.

Qalibaf made the remarks in a meeting held in Tehran on Tuesday evening with the visiting Deputy Speaker of National Assembly of Pakistan Qasim Khan Suri.

In the meeting, Qalibaf referred to the long-lasting relations between Tehran and Islamabad, saying that their ties have been close and deep since the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.

The Majlis speaker underlined that the new Iranian government and parliament are serious in strengthening relations with neighboring countries.

Also, the issue of Afghanistan is important for both, Qalibaf stated.

And, security issues are important due to a long joint border between the two countries in southeastern Iran, the speaker noted.

Touching upon the US anti-Iran sanctions, Qalibaf called for preparing the ground and creating opportunity for interactions between Iranian and Pakistani banks.

For his part, the Pakistani official said his country has made many efforts to fight against the unjust sanctions on Iran.

About his visit to Iran, Suri said he is after strengthening bilateral relations.

On the issue of Palestine, Suri said fortunately, Pakistan and Iran have a common stance on it .

Elsewhere, he appreciated Islamic Republic of Iran for its clear stance on the issue of Kashmir.

About bilateral relations, Pakistani official said Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul railroad project has been pursued for furthering land cooperation.

On the issue of Afghanistan, Suri said Pakistan is after seeing a free and independent Afghanistan.

He went on to stress that problems would be solved through unity.

At the end, Suri invited Iranian speaker to visit Pakistan.
