Amirabdollahian had a phone conversation with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in which they discussed bilateral ties and international developments.
He thanked Kuleba for his congratulations message on the national day of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between Iran and Ukraine.
The foreign minister highlighted the capacities of cooperation in cultural, economic and business areas and said that the presence of a large of number of Iranian students in Ukraine is indicative of such capacity.
He emphasized the determination of the new administration in Iran to expand bilateral ties with Kyiv.
The top diplomat also touched upon the crisis in relations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation and expressed content over the recent de-escalation.
He also expressed hope that current situation would be solved through dialogue and diplomatic channels and without the intervention of third parties.
Iran seeks peace and stability in the region and is ready to help the crisis be settled peacefully, Amirabdollahian said.
Elsewhere in the conversation, the Ukrainian foreign minister said that Iran-Ukraine ties have been good and sustainable and no party has been able to affect the relationship.
He praised Iran’s principled stances on the Ukraine-Russia crisis, emphasizing that Kyiv sought diplomatic, peaceful settlement rather than war.
The Ukrainian official also mentioned the growth of business interactions between Iran and Ukraine and expressed hope that it would further increase.
