Differences in Vienna Talks have reduced, informed source says

Vienna, IRNA – An informed source said many differences in the talks on lifting sanctions have been eliminated and the participating delegations are talking about ways to implement the agreement.

Speaking to IRNA on the condition of anonymity, the source said that delegations are consulting on difficult topics and on how to turn them into words in the document.

He added that many parentheses on lifting sanctions and the nuclear issues have been removed and the delegations are now working on the third appendix and on how to the implement the possible agreement.

Elaborating on the issue of sequence, he said that it deals with the measures which should be taken by Iran and the US for implementing the 2015 agreement, from which Washington unilaterally withdrew in March 2018.

It is one the most difficult and the longest part of negotiations, he said, adding that it would be necessary for achieving the goal.

The Iranian negotiating team has attended several intense meetings at different levels and submitted proposals to save time in the Vienna talks, but the European and American parties called for a halt to return to their capitals for consultations.

The European trio (Britain, France, and Germany) have only commented on Iranian propositions and refused to suggest any constructive proposals to help decrease differences.

Certain Western sides have even called for reviewing accepted issues or proposed new demands, which slowed down the talks. Other intervals such as Westerners’ holidays, change of European negotiators, coronavirus-related restrictions as well as absence of European trio’s top negotiators are among other obstacles on the way of speeding up the negotiations.
