FM Amirabdollahian: Iran ready to set up consular, border committees with Kuwait

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian on Sunday stressed the need to develop relations between Iran and Kuwait while declaring Tehran's readiness to hold joint commissions, as well as consular and border committees.

Amirabdollahian met and held talks with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah on the sidelines of the 17th emergency meeting of the council of Foreign Ministers of the member-states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Islamabad, Pakistan

Stressing the development of relations between the two states and efforts to remove consular barriers and facilitate the movement of nationals of the two countries, Amirabdollahian announced Tehran's readiness to hold joint commissions and consular, border committees.

He described the relations between the two countries as based on brotherhood and neighborliness.

The Kuwaiti foreign minister, for his part, said that consular and border committees of the two states will be held soon.

He discussed regional developments and bilateral relations and invited Amirabdollahian to visit Kuwait.
