Afghanistan to resume import of oil, gas from Iran

Kabul, IRNA – Afghan chairman of Kabul-Tehran joint chamber of commerce has said that his country will resume imports of oil, gasو and fuel from Iran as of next week.

This will reduce oil products' price which had gone up during the past two months due to halt to imports of fuel from Iran, Mira Jan Suleiman Kheil said on Monday.

According to reports, Iran exported 400,000 tons of fuel to Afghanistan from May 2020 to May 2021.

Iran and Afghanistan have witnessed growing trade exchange during the past two decades.

Efforts of the two countries' officials can increase the current level of exchange.

Iran has 945 kilometers of joint border with Afghanistan.

Last month, the spokesman for Taliban in Afghanistan Zabihullah Mujahid said delegations from Taliban and Tehran have reached important agreements on economic issues and expansion of bilateral cooperation.

Taliban took power over Afghanistan in August 2021.
