Iran calls for returning stranded Iranians in Belarus-Lithuania border region

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Wednesday that the issue of solving the problem of stranded Iranians along the Belarus-Lithuania border region is on the agenda of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Referring to the latest situation of stranded Iranians on the Belarus border, Khatibzadeh said that Tehran and Minsk are both considering the status of stranded Iranians.

Pointing to the Iranian embassy's effort to find the stranded Iranians, he noted that the Iran ambassador tried his best, colleagues settled on that border and they had a meeting and stayed there at night.

Regarding contradictory news about the stranded Iranians in the Belarus-Lithuania border region, Khatibzadeh added that some individuals are in places where they were difficult to find until yesterday.

He stressed that the Foreign Ministry is working to repatriate its nationals and that it is on the Foreign Ministry's agenda until they are returned.
