Ahvaz, IRNA - The city of Shushtar in Khuzestan Province, southwestern Iran, has been named by internationally renowned 2A (Architecture & Art) Magazine as a Paragon City along with cities of Yazd and Masuleh.

According to miraskhz.ir, Head of Shushtar World Heritage Base Mohammad-Reza Bahadori said that in the first event, when the 2A Magazine introduced paragon cities based on their capacities and historical monuments, Shushtar has been announced a "Paragon City" in Iran.

The event was held in the presence of national and international experts in the fields of architecture and civil engineering at the Center for International Seminars of the National Library and Archives of Iran in Tehran, he said, adding that three cities of Shushtar, Yazd and Masuleh were selected as paragon cities because of enjoying precious history and museums.

Referring to the great importance of being branded as "Paragon City," Bahadori noted that attaining such a brand will pave the way for a city to be introduced nationally and internationally among architects and civil engineers, so the city can find sister cities throughout the world.

Paragon City is a big and modern city, where there is history alive still in today's world, the official said, noting that architecture, public places, sustainability, social justice, and transportation are being utilized in this kind of city to create an atmosphere that can meet all requirements of residents.
