Iran top military official congratulates counterparts on Holy Prophet's Birthday

Tehran, IRNA - Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri through separate messages on Thursday congratulated his counterparts in Islamic countries on Milad-un-Nabi (the birth anniversary of Great Prophet Muhammad [Peace Be Upon Him]).

Birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the event which is also called Eid Milad-un-Nabi, is celebrated in Islamic Republic of Iran and Islamic countries each year.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born c. 570. His exact birthday is believed by Sunni scholars to be on the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal and by Shia scholars to be on the 17th of the same Lunar Hijri month.

In his message on the occasion, General Baqeri wished growing unity for the Islamic Ummah.

He also expressed hope that the world, particularly the Islamic countries, would witness expansion of peace and stability.

The date of Great Prophet Muhammad's birthday is a public holiday in Iran.
