Iran denounces terror attack on Kandahar mosque

Tehran, IRNA - Iranian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Friday condemned the terrorist attack on Kandahar mosque and warned against the divisive conspiracies of the enemies of the Islamic Ummah and stressed unity and integration between Shia and Sunni Muslims and denying violence and extremism under the topic of Islam.

Iranian Foreign Ministry sympathized with the bereaved families of the victims of the deadly accident and wished immediate recovery for those who were injured.

This tragic incident, and the similar events of the past, including the recent attack on prayers in Kunduz, clarifies the importance of increasing vigilance and protecting Shia and Sunni religious gatherings in Afghanistan.

Iran is confident that our Muslim Afghan brothers and sisters will thwart the divisive conspiracies of their enemies through empathy, solidarity, and cooperation, it noted.

The suicide attack in Kandahar has so far claimed the lives of 37 people and injured 70 others.
