Former British Deputy Foreign Minister on Middle East affairs Alistair Barrett told IRNA correspondent on Thursday that the visit of deputy European Union foreign policy chief Enrique Mora to Tehran came at a critical time.
Mora has made no secret of the EU’s belief that a resumption of the Vienna talks is urgent and he would convey that in Tehran, Barrett said.
"With so many other issues on the agenda, including Afghanistan, and with regional security discussions taking place between various states, I hope Mr. Mora will stress that an agreement in Vienna is good not only on the nuclear issue, but as an important signal of mutual engagement on other issues," he added.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has held six rounds of talk with the 4+1 (Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia) to remove the unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States against Iran after Washington withdrew from the JCPOA.
Mora paid a visit to Iran and met Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Baqeri to discuss various bilateral and international issues, including the resumption of talks to lift illegal sanctions against Iran.
