Military, defense ties with Pakistan to further strengthen: Gen Bagheri

Islamabad, IRNA -- Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces emphasizing on deep ties with Pakistan expresses the hope that military and defense interactions between the two friendly neighboring states will be further strengthen.

In exclusive interview with IRNA soon after his arrival at military airbase in Islamabad on Tuesday evening, Major-General Mohammad Bagheri said Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan have deep and historical ties, and especially in since in recent years we have witnessed a lot of cooperation on common borders.

Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces added in this trip, we will discuss the development of communications for more security on the long and common borders of Iran and Pakistan.

**Afghanistan, Muslim world issues to be discussed

General Bagheri stated among the important issues of the Islamic World is Afghanistan and the situation in the country adding that Iran and Pakistan have common concerns in Afghanistan.

He said keeping in view the current security situation of Afghanistan and the consequences of recent events in the country on both neighboring countries, we must consult with each other and take decisions that lead to the progress of Afghan people and help forming an inclusive government in the country. 

He expressed hope that the consultations between Iran and Pakistan would prevent the problems that are now being predicted and would lead to a better situation in Afghanistan.

Major General Mohammad Bagheri continued Iran and Pakistan as the two largest countries must be consulted on the issues of Islamic world.

He said that military and defense relations between Iran and Pakistan, which have developed a lot in recent years, will be further strengthened during this trip.

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major-General Mohammad Bagheri heading a high-level military delegation arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday evening to expand military cooperation with Pakistan.

After two official visits of Pakistan Army Chief to Tehran and also the first official visit of General Bagheri to Islamabad in July 2018, the current visit of Iranian military delegation to the eastern neighbor would open new chapter in strengthening military, defense and security relations between the two important countries of the Islamic world.
