Iranian top general censures terrorist attack in Afghanistan

Tehran, IRNA - Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed forces Major-General Mohammad Bagheri has issued a statement, condemning the terrorist attack on a mosque in Kunduz, Afghanistan.

According to the public relations office of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Bagheri called for bringing to justice the perpetrators and those who are behind such a heinous act against worshippers at Seyyed Abad Mosque in Kunduz in northern Afghanistan.

The statement said that the terrorist incident happened when people were saying their Friday prayers at the mosque, in which hundreds of innocent Muslims were martyred or injured.

This incident shows the threat of Takfiri terrorism, which has its roots in the Arrogance and World Zionist think tanks, still targets Islamic nations particularly the ones who stand against terrorist regimes such as the United States.

The grave and alarming agony, which caused pain and grief among Muslim nations and all human-beings, highlights the need for unity, security, and stability in the Islamic world in particular the friend and neighboring Afghanistan, so it is expected that the formation of an inclusive government in the country would end up in uprooting sinister terrorists hired by anti-Islam enemies and help restore security and tranquility in the war-torn country; then, hopefully the oppressed and resistant people of Afghanistan would experience normal life.

Condemning the heinous crime strongly, Bagheri expressed sympathy with the bereaved families of the martyrs and wished immediate recovery for the injured people.

Along with all justice-loving people throughout the world, the Iranian official called on Afghan authorities to find all perpetrators of the crime, urging for preemptive efforts to prevent recurrence of such sad catastrophes in the future.
