Sports minister congratulates Iranian wrestler's historical victory

Tehran, IRNA – Minister of sports and youth’s affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran in a message congratulated Ali-Akbar Yusefi who gained the Iranian freestyle national team’s 2nd gold medal in 2021 Oslo World Wrestling Championship.

Iran’s 130 kg athlete in the final match of his weight category beat his Russian competent to win the Iranian wrestling history's first gold medal in this weight in 60 years, and the Greco-Roman team’s 2nd medal in Oslo thus far.

Following that historical athletic victory, the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Hamid Sajjadi in a congratulatory message addressed to him initially tanked God, that the might of the offspring of this motherland in Norway world wrestling completions not only creates pride and makes history, but also enters joy in the hearts of the Iranian nation and pleases them.

“The Gold medal of Ali Akbar Yusefi in his mighty victory in his encounter with his powerful Russian competitor, and the gold medal of the heavy weight that was registered for the first time at the world scene for the Iranian Greco-Roman team created both pride and grandeur for the country’s sports,” wrote Sajjadi.

The sports minister, meanwhile, congratulated the occasion to the brave people of Mazandaran province, where Yusefi comes from, the Wrestling Federation officials and the fans of the athletic wrestling sport.

“I pray to Exalted God for greater victories for the pride-inspiring athletes, their full health, hoping that the ending night that the competitions, too, will be the night for Iran’s more pride and grandeur,” he concluded.
