Regional borders and illusion of buying security from foreigners

Tehran, IRNA - Recent developments near border areas of northwestern Iran have proved that the issue of buying security from foreign powers is nothing but a deceptive illusion, which leads to sowing discord among neighboring and Muslim countries.

Azerbaijan Republic's ignoring neighborly ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran created reactions from authorities and people of both countries.

Given the strategic significance of Iran's borders and the need for maintaining a balanced relationship, both sides are expected to review the source of differences in order to find a way out of the current situation and reach a strategy guaranteeing regional peace and security.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has underlined the importance of keeping the borders calm and maintaining relations with Muslim nations in the region.

Warning against the harmful presence of foreign forces in the region, the Supreme Leader emphasized that it is better for the whole region that all countries have their own independent army and rely upon their own nation and that they are expected to collaborate with neighboring armies.

With a look at the reasons behind regional tensions, it is obvious that foreign forces, especially the Americans with the support of the Zionists, have been trying to sow discord between neighboring states and Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei went on to say that all regional issues should be resolved without any involvement of extra-regional states.

A historical review shows that from day one of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Western propaganda campaign has been active to propagate Iranophobia and trigger certain regional countries to buy arms and security from foreign powers.

The Supreme Leader has cautioned that such states who rely on direct or indirect interference of foreign forces will face catastrophic consequences.

International relations have changed and countries cannot be dependent on buying weapons to maintain their security; for instance, the deposed Shah of Iran purchased state-of-the-art weapons from the United States, but he could not even protect his own government from downfall.

It is worth mentioning that the Islamic Republic of Iran has shown over four decades that it will stand firmly against threats from any foreign forces. Iran's neighboring states should be better aware that Iranians are determined to defend their country's territorial integrity and borders; history proves it, especially when it comes to Iraqi imposed war on Iran during Saddam Hussein's era.

As the Supreme Leader emphasized, Iranian Armed Forces should act based on authority along with rationality.

Therefore, being manipulated by the Zionist regime will not be beneficial for any country and cannot guarantee security in the long run.
