Italian envoy: Donation of 1.2m doses of COVID-19 vaccine indicates good cooperation with Iran

Tehran, IRNA – Italian Ambassador to Tehran Giuseppe Perrone said on Monday that his country’s donation of 1.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Iran is indicative of good cooperation between the two countries.

The ambassador expressed hope that the donation could help Iran’s response to the pandemic.

Perrone said that Iran and Italy were among the countries which suffered most in the first wave of the disease.

COVID-19 killed many people in both Iran and Italy and the economies of both countries heavily suffered from the consequences of the pandemic, he said.

Noting that the situation is changing, the ambassador said that more than 70% of the Italian people have been vaccinated against the disease and the vaccination in Iran has also paced up so that more than one million doses of vaccine are inoculated each day in the country.
