Iranian, Turkmen FMs survey bilateral ties over phone

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov in a phone talk on Sunday surveyed the latest status of bilateral ties, the developments in Afghanistan, and the sponsoring of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit Meeting.

The Turkmen foreign minister said that the recent meeting of two countries’ presidents in Tajikistan was a turning point in bilateral ties, and pursuing the implementation of the reached agreements between the two presidents is necessary.

Amirabdollahian, for his part, while congratulating the anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence once again, referred to President Raisi government’s policy on relations with neighboring countries, the significance of Turkmenistan in Iran foreign policy, and the need for further development of comprehensive bilateral ties.

The two sides in phone talk were agreed on the point that the two countries’ foreign ministries are responsible for pursuing the implementation of the two presidents’ agreements, expediting the holding of the two countries’ Bilateral Commission in Tehran in near future, and surveying cooperation in transportation and trade fields.
