Iranian musician won first place in Uzbekistan festival

Bojnourd, IRNA – Iranian Bakhshi musician Hossein Valinejad of Shirvan city won the first place in Uzbekistan International Bakhshi Art Festival.

Head Culture and Islamic Guidance Administration of Shirvan Ebrahim Abbaspour told IRNA on Sunday that Valinejad who represented Iran in the festival received the festival statue and three arts decorations.

Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran participated in the international festival.

Valinejad had previously received honorable mention and the 500-dollar award from the Silk Road International Ethnic Music in Uzbekistan in 2019.

He has also a second degree arts decoration and has been awarded in various national and international music festivals.

A narrator of east Iranian music culture, the Bakhshi, plays Dutar, a traditional long-necked two-stringed lute widely played in Iran and Central Asia.

Shirvan is a city east of Bojnourd in northeast Iran. The city has a population of 157,000 people.
