Iran economic progress beyond imagination: Russian official

Moscow, IRNA - President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevsky has emphasized his visit to Iran proved the fact that economic and financial development in the Islamic Republic is beyond imagination.

Zlochevsky told IRNA on Wednesday that his experience of Iran's current situation was completely different from what he had imagined and seen in media.

I traveled to Iran to take part in the first exclusive exhibition Eurasia Expo and found an opportunity to get acquainted with Iranian economic progress, he said, noting, "I never expected the Iranian market to be developed to that extent."

The president of the Russian Grain Union underlined that his country is considered one of the main producers of grains in the world, adding that Russia exported 45 million tons of grains, including wheat, to different countries.

Iran stands second among purchasers of Russian grains at the present time, he said, expressing hope that recent direct connections will help expand grain trade between Moscow and Tehran.

A new memorandum of understanding on grain business will pave the ground for more collaboration, he argued, noting that he has determined a representative to expand cooperation with the Iranian partners.

Zlochevsky and Alireza Ja'fari, Iran's representative in the Eurasian Economic Union, signed the MoU on Tuesday in Tehran. According to the MoU, Iranian importers can directly get their information from the representative office of the Russian Grain Union in Iran.

Ja'fari said that Iranians' demands will be sent to the Russian Grain Union directly and the union will send them to Russian grain producers, so the Iranian importers can find the best and lowest prices.

The Iranian importers and economic actors can also get all needed information from the representative office of the Russian Grain Union, he stipulated.
