Iranian envoy, Serbian cultural official ask for broader cultural cooperation

Belgrade, IRNA – Iran’s ambassador in Belgrade and the head of Serbia’s Adligat Library in a meeting here on Tuesday referred to the comprehensive good bilateral ties, and emphasized the need for improvement of cultural cooperation, including in libraries’ field.

Ambassador Rashid Hassanpour in his meeting with Victor Lazic while expressing satisfaction over the cultural activities of the Adligat Cultural Institute in relation with Iran, announced the readiness of the Iranian Embassy in Belgrade and its Cultural Attaché’s readiness for supporting those cultural moves.

"Broadening bilateral cultural cooperation, introducing the rich contemporary Iranian culture and civilization to the culture loving Serbian nation, and supporting the Iranology studies in Serbia, are our natural duties and we will spare no opportunity for such moves," added the Iranian ambassador.

Hassanpour said that the cultural diplomacy plays a great role in improvement of countries’ relations, and the plan for cultural cooperation between the two countries was signed in the year 2016, and simultaneously a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation between the national libraries of the two countries, too, was signed.

The head of Adligat Cultural Museum, too, in the meeting spoke about the titles of the proposed plan for bilateral cooperation, and presented his proposal for expansion of cooperation with the National Library of Iran, the Islamic Republic of Iran Documents Organization, and the Iranian Post Organization, as well as exchanging postal stamps and issuing a bilateral stamp.
